The Reverend William Gaskell

A talk by Michaela Hulme, Jessica Manfield and Alice McManus

William Gaskell, who was chairman of the Portico from 1849-84, was one of the most notable and well-loved figures in Victorian Manchester.

Michaela, Jessica and Alice are the team of students that put together the exhibition currently showing in the Portico Library, as part of the second year of their History Degree at MMU.

Michaela was also lucky enough to have an amazing source of inspiration on her doorstep, as the late Joan Leach, Founder of the Gaskell Society was her neighbour.

In this presentation, Michaela, Jessica and Alice will talk about their research and the exhibition.

The talk will be followed by a buffet supper.

Talk (with buffet) £16.00 each or talk only at £5.00 each
